Daily 3 FAQs
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about playing Daily 3 in Indiana. You can find out about how the different play types work, how to claim prizes, and much more.
What is Daily 3?
Daily 3 is the name of Indiana’s three-digit lottery. You have to pick three numbers from 0 to 9 and a play type. You can even choose your wager amount. Draws take place twice a day.
When do draws take place?
Midday drawings take place at 1:20 p.m., while Evening drawings are at 11:00 p.m.
What is the cut-off time for tickets?
You can purchase tickets until 1:10 p.m. for the Midday draw, or 10:39 p.m. for the Evening draw.
What play types are available?
You can choose to play a Straight, 1-Off, Box, Combo, Wheel, Front Pair or Back Pair.
How does the 1-Off play style work?
If you choose the 1-Off play type, you win a prize if one, two or three of your numbers are ‘one off’ – that is one higher or lower – than the numbers drawn. For example, if you pick the numbers 456 and the numbers drawn are 457, you win because you have matched two numbers and the ‘6’ you have picked is just one off the winning number of 7. Go to the Ways to Play page to find out more about all the Daily 3 play types.
How much is it per wager?
You can decide how much to wager in Daily 3. Play for just $0.50 per play, or wager $1, $2, $5 or $10.
What are 3-Way and 6-Way plays?
For some play types, such as Box, Combo and Wheel, your wager will be considered a 3-Way or a 6-Way depending on the combination of numbers you have selected. A 6-Way play is one which contains three different numbers, such as 123. A 3-Way play has two like numbers and one unique, for example 112.
How much can I win?
The amount you can win is based on your wager amount and your play type. If you play a Straight, you can win 500x your wager amount, so the prize for a $1 play is $500 and for a $10 wager it is $5,000. Go to the Prizes and Odds Prizes and Odds page to see a full list of all the payouts.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds of winning are different for each play type. For a Straight, your chances of matching all three numbers exactly are 1 in 1,000. The odds are better for every other play type.
What is the Superball?
The Superball is a fourth number between 0 and 9 that is also selected as part of every draw. You can use this Superball number to replace any of the three main numbers, helping you to create a winning combination. Find out more on the Superball page.

Are prizes shared between winners?
No. All the prizes are fixed amounts. You are guaranteed to receive the full amount if you win. The Indiana Lottery sets a liability limit for each number combination, so sales may be suspended before a drawing to ensure there are always sufficient funds to pay out every winner.
Can I play if I’m not a resident of Indiana?
Yes, you can play as a visitor to Indiana if you do not live in the Hoosier State. You just have to be at least 18 years old.
What is the claims process?
You can claim prizes of up to $599 from participating lottery retailers in Indiana, while larger amounts can be redeemed from claim centers in Indianapolis, Mishawaka or Evansville. You can also mail in winning tickets of any value to the Hoosier Lottery, 1302 North Meridian Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
How long do I have to claim prizes?
You have 180 days from the date of a Daily 3 drawing to claim any prizes you win.
