There are lots of different play types to choose from with Daily 3. It’s not just a case of picking three numbers from 0 to 9 – you have to decide whether you want to match them exactly, in any order, or consider one of the other options. You can find out more about each style of play below, alongside examples of how to win for each one.
See the Prizes and Odds page for a full list of all the payouts that can be won in Daily 3.
The simplest form of wager is a Straight, where the three numbers you select must be the same as the three digits that are drawn. You don’t win a prize for getting two out of three in the correct positions, or for getting all three in a different order. They must all match.
You can pick any combination of numbers with a Straight, and it’s the play type you need to select if you want to choose a triple with three identical digits.
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
111 | 111 |
234 | 234 |
788 | 788 |
If you submit a 1-Off play, it gives you a small margin for error. You are still trying to predict the winning three-digit combination exactly, but your numbers can be one off – higher or lower – than those that are drawn. For example, if you pick 234 and the winning numbers are 235, you have matched two out of three and the final number is just one off, so you win a prize.
Two or three of your numbers can be off by one and you’d still win. This gives you more chances to win than a Straight play, although the potential rewards are lower and you would not receive a payout if your numbers matched exactly. Here are some more examples of how to win:
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
123 | 023, 113, 122, 124, 133, 223 - One Digit 1-Off |
123 | 013, 022, 024, 033, 112, 114, 132, 134, 213, 222, 224, 233 - Two Digits 1-Off |
123 | 012, 014, 032, 034, 212, 214, 232, 234 - Three Digits 1-Off |
A Box play just requires you to match all three winning numbers – the order is not important. All that matters is that they are all drawn, so you wouldn’t get a prize for matching one or two out of three. If you choose three different numbers, this is known as a 6-Way Box. If two of your three numbers are the same, it is a 3-Way Box. You can see from the table below how there is a better chance of winning with a 6-Way play.
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
112 (3-Way Box) | 112, 121, 211 |
123 (6-Way Box) | 123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321 |
In Indiana, a Combo is when you combine a Straight and a Box – half your wager goes on matching the numbers exactly and half goes on matching them in any order. You win the full prize if you match all the numbers exactly, or just part of it if you get them in another order.
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
337 (3-Way Combo) | 337 (Straight + Box), 373, 733 (Box only) |
890 (6-Way Combo) | 890 (Straight + Box), 809, 908, 980, 089, 098 (Box only) |
This is when you play multiple Straights at the same time. For the three-digit number you pick, every combination is entered separately. This gives you a better chance of winning than playing a single Straight, and the prize is just the same, but you have to pay for each entry. For a 3-Way Wheel, for example, you have to pay for three Straights, while it is double for a 6-Way.
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
404 (3-Way Combo) | 404, 440, 044 |
789 (6-Way Combo) | 789, 798, 879, 897, 978, 987 |
For a Front Pair, you just need to select which two numbers you think will be drawn in the first and second positions. A Back Pair requires you to choose the numbers you think will appear second and third. You must get both numbers in the correct positions to win a prize. If filling out a playslip, just select the relevant option and mark two numbers instead of three, leaving either the third row blank (if playing Front Pair) or the first row blank (if playing Back Pair).
Your Numbers | Winning Combinations |
---|---|
Front Pair - 77X | 77X (the third digit can be any number) |
Back Pair - X23 | X23 (the first digit can be any number) |
